Born and raised in Durham but escaped briefly to York before returning to Durham for University years (1978-1982)
Following graduation and PGCE, became a teacher, first in Bishop's Stortford then Edinburgh. These stints were followed by 21 years of Headship, first in Cornwall and later in North Yorkshire, form whence took early retirement in 2015.
Married to Natalie, two "children" aged 23 and 21, both students themselves.
Currently a student mentor attached to Hatfield College and spend any free time playing golf, watching Sunderland AFC, refereeing Rugby and listening to (and sometimes playing) 80's music!
